July 30, 2010 (I'm 1 year old today)

Wow—it’s my birthday today! I got a coupon from Mamaw that she’ll take me downtown to walk over and back on the Riverfront Walk. Poppy’s coupon says we can pack a picnic lunch and go down to the Pappajohn Sculpture Park and learn about the art. But not any of this stuff today. Poppy has to work again.

And Mamaw has found some of her classmates live in Des Moines and she’s already made plans to meet three of them for coffee. It doesn’t keep us from mourning Darrell’s death though. He is in our thoughts and prayers.

And Mamaw had already made big plans for her day so she didn’t have any choice but to go…She hooked up with three of her former classmates from high school and they met over coffee. And then she had the jewelry to deliver and thought she’d best get that done with everythin that’s goin on. I know she’ll feel better when she knows everybody has what they paid for. Besides that, Mamaw used some of her “free” prize money to buy for Dodi and Deb and she wanted them to have it for tonight. They’re goin to Ogden Fun Days to meet up with former classmates and Dodi’s class is having a “mini-reunion.”

Then she went over to Ogden where she met Lin at the library. She showed Lin her newest project and they talked about that. I can’t tell you what it is though, cause I’m sworn to secrecy just like the Bush Beans Dog. They enjoy sharing their projects and sometimes it just can’t be done by phone.

So, I’ve been kenneled a long time! I’m gonna try not to complain. But when Mamaw came through the door, I could tell her hip was killing her. And when Poppy got home, she told him that her left ankle was killing her too!!!! Oh my God, Mamaw, don’t fall apart on me now.

We had bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches for dinner—well, I SHOULD say they did! As usual it smelled like heaven. I got a couple of biscuits again—dog biscuits. And soon after dinner Mamaw just wanted to lay down and rest so Poppy told her to put the gate up and I could stay out with him this evening so she could rest. I guess I agreed with that…

The only thing we did for my birthday today was they sang that stupid song to me. I’ve been promised the use of my coupons at a more convenient and cooler time.
