Today is Lin’s book signing in Boone. Yes, I know—Home Alone. Well Mamaw isn’t going to be happy if she is just home with me all of the time so I might as well just get used to it.
No matter what she has going on though, she always makes sure to make time for ME. This morning she sat on the couch and I sprawled across her lap and just enjoyed her. I just adore all of the “sweet talk” and the way she caresses me. Her touch is so light and feathery it just shows the love. We sat like that for 45 minutes and then I moved to my end of the couch. And that was her clue that she should get to writing the blog. Hey, she’s very religious about it! It has to be done before any outside activities unless it is just impossible. She reads her email and gets the blogs covered and she’s happy.
Well, I’m not a happy camper when she goes back to the bedroom and shuts me out! She’s been doin that again lately cause I’ve been kinda naughty if she leaves the door open. Yesterday I tore her side of the bed up and found the waterbed plastic instructions where you put the water—and I ate it! Holy cow—was she mad at me…
So she’s in there getting herself all duded up to look like a “walking target” and I’m stuck outside the door to wait. I’m not sure I think that is fair but she goes around saying Mother Knows Best. I don’t know if she does or not.
After going outside to go potty before she left, she unleashed me and tried to grab my collar. I nipped at her “with the ugly lips” and she said, “No bite, Scarlett”! Then she reached for my collar again and I just side-stepped her and went into the kennel by myself. I’ve done this twice now cause I’m tryin to teach her that she’s not gonna tell me when to go in the kennel—I’m goin to tell her. Well, it all worked out without any abuse taking place. And so—she’s off…
I was really expectin Mamaw before Poppy but it didn’t happen that way. Poppy came home first and we went outside. Then he fixed himself a big homemade brownie and ice cream for lunch. We’re just hangin out now waitin for Mamaw to come home.
And when she walked in the door she looked like a whipped pup! Oh Mamaw—you look so tired…”Well I am,” she says. She goes to the bathroom, out to the car, in with her stuff and unpacks it. She needs to know it’s all cleaned up. Then she gets on the phone and calls the guy that won the $20 gift certificate for the book store and sent a thank you to the book store. She’s so thoughtful…
Well, I’m not. I just keep beggin her with my eyes—I want a walk. She goes to the bedroom (lets me in this time) and she changes into cooler clothes. Leashed up, water in hand and off we go to the bike trail. Half way up, Mamaw saw a black woman and her son. She wanted to socialize me in that area too so we stopped—I was kinda scared but then it was okay. What wasn’t okay was the bike that the wind blew over—scared the s*** out of me—well, not literally but you know what I mean.
We’re gonna eat a burger and veg out—got a big day tomorrow too!
